Are anime female characters too sexualized?

Depends on the show for me. When the design fits the character and the story it does not even register, but the random camera angles in a serious scene pull me right out of it. Frieren and Apothecary Diaries feel like the current balance done right, the characters just look like people living in that world.

I feel like most of the time, yes! We see too much unnecessary sexual scenes, but i dont think fan service is wrong, if this is not overdoing it and ruining the anime (or manga) then its fine !! But everyone has different tolerance so i guess it depends of the target audiance..
Furthermore, some people are also way to "pervy" (to be polite) because sometimes nothing sexual is happening but somehow they still manage to make it akward afterward....

Also we dont have to forget some amazing anime with no sexual appearence!! because they are goated!

I'm interested. What anime do you know of that doesn't have sexual appearances? I can't think of any of the top of my head right now.

Death Note. Unless you count that one scene with Misa in Part 2 (Although I don't think that was necessarily fanservice)

Personally i like subtle sexualisation. I am male and wont apologise. But i dont like it when its completely over the top. I think it was High School DxD i started watching, but the sexualisation made me cringe. It was really desperate so i had to give up almost immediately. I'm not going to lie, the flash of a pleated skirt can hold my attention all day long. I can only speak for myself here but even though i love some sexualisation, it does not mean that i have any less respect for women.

Anime like yume-iro patissière! At least I dont recall anything with sexual pattern or things that made it uncomfortable to watch! but it doesnt mean that fan service is wrong i'm just saying some anime exist without sexualisation!

Ghibli dont tend to sexualise so thats a whole bunch (unless we are only talking about series' of anime)

Yeah those too! I feel like they're still some that doesnt sexualize (gratefully) tho I agree that female characters are often on second position or not appreciate enough outside of their appearence....

Mushishi is an easy one for that list, the women in it are just people caught in odd mushi cases, nothing played up at all. A Place Further Than the Universe too, four girls going to Antarctica and the camera never treats them that way, it stays on why each of them needs the trip. and i side with the point above about framing, a bath scene by itself is not the same as a scene shot to leer. what other quiet slice of life shows would you all put on the list
